DAYS 17-20

PHOENIX AND GOLF SCHOOL

Sunday morning at Bud and Laviere's in Mesa. Was nice to eat home cooking. Went to church with about a thousand Swedes and Norwegians from Minnesota and Wisconsin. The southwest surely draws them from the cold north. They're all softies. Dinner with June and John. Last was with cousin June in the forties at a Cubs game visiting Chicago and Edith with Bertha.

After lunch drove to old Williams AFB, now closed but being reconstructed as a multi-purpose facility. The old flight shacks are gone but the memories are still there. Marc's birthplace has been leveled however. Oh well. Ah, but the golf course still exists.

Continued into Chandler and drove thru the old neighborhood. It has surely changed over the past thirty five years. Went on to our hotel to prepare ourselves for golf school tomorrow.

We met our teacher Doug at 9 AM Monday morning and began an intense three days of practice and play at the Foothills Golf Club. After two hours of lessons, we teed it up for 18 holes of on-course instruction. The weather was perfect. After our round we hit balls until 5 PM. Same routine on Tuesday and Wednesday. Could it be any better.

It was a great three days and we hope to carry everything learned and drilled to this summers upcoming golf matches.
